Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are jointly working on the automation of the Syr Darya river’s water accounting system.

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources of Kazakhstan.

“Currently, together with our Uzbek partners, we are carrying out joint work on the automation of the Syr Darya river’s water accounting system. Within this framework, 10 key areas have been selected. Five of them are located in Kazakhstan, and the rest in Uzbekistan. In the identified areas, the implementation of modern automated accounting and monitoring systems is planned,” the minister said.

Nurzhigitov believes that the implementation of these measures will ensure transparency in water resource management: “After implementing the projects in the first stage, the automation of other sections of the Syr Darya river will begin in the future. Also, taking into account common basins, other Central Asian countries are planned to be gradually involved in this process.”
