“The US and mediating countries are exploring the possibility of holding peace talks at the level of high-ranking Iranian officials. The talks could take place on March 26. However, according to two informed sources, they are still waiting for a response from Tehran,” the portal noted.
The media outlet added, citing an anonymous informed source, that Iran told the mediating countries that it does not want to be deceived again after being misled twice by US President Donald Trump.
According to the sources, the US military actions and Trump’s decision to send large additional forces to the region increased Tehran’s suspicions that the offer of talks was merely a deception operation.
