Araqchi: International law is dead

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi shared a post on his social media account, accusing Western countries of remaining silent in the face of attacks against Iran, stating, “International law is dead.”
“Elchi” reports that Araqchi, quoting an AA post from the US-based X social media platform, stated that Western countries apply double standards depending on the country. “International law is dead. The reason for this is the double standards applied by the West regarding Gaza and Ukraine, and the silence against Israel’s and the US’s aggression against Iran,” Araqchi said, thanking German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for “condemning violations against Iranians.”
Araqchi also called on those who value the rule of law to raise their voices more.
German President Steinmeier, speaking at an event marking the 75th anniversary of the reconstruction of the German Foreign Ministry after World War II, emphasized that making foreign policy more pragmatic and effective does not mean abandoning international law. He stated, “Not calling a violation of international law a violation does not make our foreign policy more convincing. We had to face this during the Gaza war, and we must face it in the Iran war. Because, in my opinion, this war is against international law.”
