ADB allocated over $39 million for projects in Azerbaijan last year

In 2025, within the framework of cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), $39.38 million has been allocated for a number of regional technical assistance projects covering Azerbaijan.

“Elchi” reports that the projects mainly covered directions such as green energy and energy transmission, climate action, sustainable financing, agriculture and food security, digitalization of the transport and railway sector, decarbonization of the heat supply sector, urban development, labor market, and the development of public-private partnership projects.

Within this framework, the budget for the regional technical assistance project “Accelerating Climate Action, Innovation, and Private Sector Development through Sector Operations” amounts to $14.8 million US dollars. In addition, $5 million US dollars have been allocated for the operational advisory services project for the preparation of public-private partnerships and other projects, $3 million US dollars for the agriculture and food security project, $3.12 million US dollars for the program to enhance the capacity of sovereign institutions for the application of innovative financing methods, $2.1 million US dollars for the green and sustainable urban development project, and $2 million US dollars for the project to strengthen response mechanisms to gender-based violence.

Within the framework of other technical assistance projects, financial support has also been provided for initiatives on energy cooperation, management of foreign exchange reserves, digital and artificial intelligence solutions in agriculture, expansion of Baku Metro, Baku green corridor, digitalization of the railway sector, and public debt management.
