Aykhan Hajizada, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan, stated that they expect an explanation regarding the statement of Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
Information about this was provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was stated that Maria Zakharova’s remarks during the last briefing were considered unacceptable: “It is unacceptable that Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, while answering a question regarding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement about religious figures during the last press briefing, attempted to mention the name of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev in a way completely unrelated to the topic.”
A. Hajizada stated that mentioning the name of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in this manner is a disrespect to his legacy and the Azerbaijani people:
“Such statements do not conform to the standards expected from an official representative. Diplomacy is not about inappropriate statements that increase tension and damage credibility, but requires discipline, precision, and responsibility. We expect an explanation from the Russian side regarding this statement.”
