A fatwa has been issued regarding the Ramadan holiday.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated in the congratulatory letter of Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade.
It was stated that, according to the information provided by the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasireddin Tusi of the Ministry of Science and Education to the Caucasus Muslims Office, and also based on the Fatwa adopted by the Fatwa Council operating under the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States – Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, this year, the 1st of Shawwal, Eid al-Fitr, God willing, falls on March 20 according to the Gregorian calendar.
“The time for zakat al-fitr, which is one of the important acts of fasting, is the last day of Ramadan – after the evening prayer on the eve of Eid. According to the Fatwa of the Council of Qadis, it is recommended that every person who can afford it gives 10-15 manats per person for zakat al-fitr. According to Sharia, fitr is a charity for the soul, and it is obligatory for a Muslim who can afford it to give zakat al-fitr for each member of their family and to give it to the poor and needy families. This aims to create a festive atmosphere for every family,” it was stated in the congratulatory letter.
It should be noted that, according to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ramadan holiday will be celebrated on March 20 and 21 in Azerbaijan. On the day of Eid, Eid prayers will be performed in all mosques of Azerbaijan. In Baku, the time for Eid prayer at Ajdarbay Mosque has been set for 08:00, and at Tezepir Mosque for 09:00.
