“Elchi” reports that US President Donald Trump’s statements regarding French leader Emmanuel Macron’s inevitable resignation indicate a repetition of the Venezuela or Iran scenario. This opinion was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Sputnik Radio.
The diplomat asked whether the US would want to remove Macron as it did with the leaders of Iran and Venezuela. According to Zakharova, this is the main question facing the current French leader.
On March 17, Macron stated at the National Defense Council that “France will under no circumstances participate in operations to open or block the Strait of Hormuz under the current circumstances.” As soon as Trump heard Macron’s statement, he predicted his inevitable resignation.
The next presidential elections in France will be held in April 2027. Macron cannot participate in them as he has served two consecutive terms as head of state.
