US President Donald Trump stated that Iran’s current leadership wants to reach an agreement with the US.
“Elchi” reports that PBS White House correspondent Liz Landers said this after a brief phone interview with the US leader.
“They want to reach an agreement, but I don’t think they are ready for it yet,” – Trump said.
The President also noted that, with the exception of oil pipelines, the US has disabled all infrastructure on Iran’s Kharg Island. “I didn’t want to hit the pipelines, because, you know, it took years to build them,” – he said.
According to Trump, US military personnel are not striking vital infrastructure in other cities for the same reasons. “I spared a lot of infrastructure in Tehran, because it would take years to build them… I could take out power plants in an hour… but if I did that, it would take years to restore them and it would be a hardship. That’s why I try to avoid such attacks,” – he noted.
