Tonight is the last Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power) of the month of Ramadan in Azerbaijan.
“Elchi” reminds that the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad gradually over 23 years, but completely on Laylat al-Qadr.
It should be noted that on the 1st of Shawwal (March 20), Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr) will be celebrated in Azerbaijan. According to the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, March 20 and 21 are Eid al-Fitr in Azerbaijan.
According to Islamic belief, Laylat al-Qadr is the sacred night when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed. This night is also specifically mentioned in the Holy Quran and is stated to be better than a thousand months.
Muslims believe that prayers and worship performed on Laylat al-Qadr are more readily accepted by Allah, and special doors of mercy are opened for the forgiveness of sins. This night traditionally falls on one of the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, and since its exact date is kept secret, believers strive to perform more acts of worship during those days.
During the holy month of Ramadan, which is a month of mercy and compassion, opening iftar tables, providing aid and charity, helping the needy, homeless people, orphanages, the elderly and aged within one’s means are considered commendable deeds in the sight of Allah. Reciting the Quran, caring for parents, remembering the souls of those who have passed away, engaging in knowledge, wisdom, and worship are considered among the greatest virtuous acts in this month.
