Switzerland rejected US request for reconnaissance flights over Iran

Switzerland rejected two US requests for reconnaissance flights related to attacks on Iran.
“Elchi” reports that the Swiss Federal Council announced it rejected the US request for reconnaissance flights related to attacks in Iran, citing the “neutrality law”. In a written statement, it was emphasized that the Federal Council made decisions regarding US military aircraft flight requests to various bases. The statement said: “Although two US requests related to the war in Iran were rejected, two requests for technical maintenance flights and transport flights from two bases were approved.”
The statement emphasized that the “neutrality law” is applied to relations between the US, Israel, and Iran, where intense clashes have occurred and attacks have continued in the Middle East since February 28, when the US and Israel began targeting Iran. The statement highlighted that the Federal Council has set criteria for future requests, stating: “Future requests not directly related to the conflict will be approved. However, if such flight requests deviate from normal operations and the purpose of these flights cannot be determined, they will be rejected. Requests for humanitarian and medical flights, including the transport of injured persons, will be approved.”
The statement also noted that the annual authorization process for clearly defined government aircraft continues, with the exception of government flights that would constitute military support in the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran.
