Former English club Arsenal footballer Billy McCullough has passed away at the age of 91.“Elchi” reports that the club’s press service announced this.
The Northern Irish defender represented the London club between 1958 and 1966.
McCullough played a total of 268 official matches for the ‘Gunners’. The left-back also participated in 10 games for the Northern Ireland national team.
Billy McCullough was a member of Arsenal’s first squad to debut in European competitions in 1963. He also went down in history as the first defender to score a goal in European tournaments for the capital club.
After leaving Arsenal in 1966, the footballer later played for ‘Millwall’, ‘Bedford Town’, ‘Cork Celtic’ and ‘Derry City’ clubs. After ending his professional career, he worked as an electrical engineer.
