US plane shot down in Iraq

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), an umbrella organization of armed Shia groups in Iraq, claimed responsibility for shooting down a US-owned KC-135 refueling aircraft.
“Elchi” reports that after the crash of a US military KC-135 refueling aircraft in Iraq was announced, the IRI, an umbrella organization of armed Shia groups in Iraq, made a surprising claim.
In a message published via Telegram, the IRI claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting that its members targeted the aircraft with air defense systems, causing it to crash.
The US had announced that its plane had crashed.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a US military KC-135 refueling aircraft had crashed in Iraq. The statement indicated that the crash occurred in friendly airspace during Operation “Epic Fury” and that rescue efforts were ongoing. It was reported that two aircraft were involved in the incident, adding: “One of the aircraft crashed in western Iraq, while the other landed safely. This crash was not caused by enemy fire or friendly fire. More detailed information will be provided as it becomes publicly available.”
