UN CONCERNED about escalating conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan

According to Georgette Gagnon, acting head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan, the escalation of armed conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan is a matter of serious concern.

According to “Elchi”, Gagnon noted that fighting has so far been concentrated mainly in border areas, but ongoing clashes pose significant risks.

The United Nations is deeply concerned about the escalating tensions and growing conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Over the past two weeks, conflict has flared up in six provinces and eight districts of Afghanistan, the UNAMA head clarified.

“The UN is closely monitoring the impact of this conflict on civilians, including casualties, displacement, and new restrictions on access to humanitarian aid,” Gagnon noted.
