Kallas stated that the US administration “wants to divide Europe”.
“Elchi” reports that the US administration “wants to divide Europe”. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated this in an interview with the Financial Times.
“I think it’s important for everyone to understand that the US has very clearly stated that it wants to divide Europe. They don’t like the European Union,” she added, stating that Washington’s approach reflects tactics used by “our enemies”.
Kallas emphasized that there are currently “very complex relations” between the US and the EU. This is reflected in the US National Security and Defense Strategies published by the White House in December and January, which call for “developing resilience” in Europe and “calibrating” US military support on the continent.
Currently, the 27 member states disagree on how to build relations with the US. The EU’s chief diplomat added that there is an opportunity in the short term to both satisfy Washington and reduce dependence on the US.
