Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Anaklaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), who is on a visit to our country to participate in the Global Baku Forum.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat, sustainable urban planning, management of urbanization processes, as well as prospects for partnership in the field of sustainable urban development were discussed. The parties exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming World Urban Forum (WUF-13) and plans within this framework.
At the meeting, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories in the post-conflict period, the rebuilding of destroyed cities and villages, and the creation of settlements based on modern urban planning principles were highlighted as significant examples of our country’s work in the field of urbanization.
Also during the meeting, views were exchanged on the current security situation in the Middle East and the growing tensions in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the current situation in our region and the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process, and spoke about Azerbaijan’s position and initiatives aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region in the post-conflict period.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
