Italy to provide 10 million euros in aid to Lebanon

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that Italy will allocate 10 million euros in emergency aid to combat the serious humanitarian situation in Lebanon.
“Elchi” reports that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “Foreign Minister Tajani today announced a new emergency aid package worth 10 million euros to combat the serious humanitarian situation in Lebanon and prevent the increasing number of displaced persons in the country and its severe impact on socio-economic stability.” The statement indicates that the emergency aid package includes a 2 million euro donation to the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund, managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), and 2 million euros in support for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, along with a 6 million euro bilateral initiative, bringing the total amount to 10 million euros.
The bilateral aid program aims to provide essential assistance, food security, initial reception, and hygiene services to approximately 220,000 people, including the “most vulnerable” Christian communities in the Mount Lebanon region.
The statement also notes that a flight carrying approximately 30 tons of humanitarian aid organized by Italy is in the preparation phase. This cargo will include thermal blankets, personal hygiene kits, water storage and transport equipment, and food kits.
