As a manifestation of the attention shown by the Azerbaijani state to the memory of prominent socio-political figures who were forced to live in exile after the collapse of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the grave of Abbasgulu Kazimzade, a Deputy of the ADR Parliament and a member of the Azerbaijan National Council, located in Cebeci Asri Cemetery in Ankara and in a dilapidated state, was thoroughly repaired by the Embassy.
“Elchi” reports that during the repair, while preserving the original appearance and dimensions of the grave, the tombstone and slabs were renewed with andesite stones of the same material, and the lines of poet Namık Kemal “Ölürsem görmeden millette ümid ettiğim feyzi. Yazılsın sengi kabrime vatan mahzun, ben mahzun.” which were on the previous tombstone, were re-engraved as they were.
It should be noted that Abbasgulu Kazimzade was forced to move to Istanbul some time after the collapse of the Republic. A. Kazimzade, who left Turkey in 1938, returned to Turkey again in 1942 and passed away in exile in Ankara on July 28, 1947.
