Eurasian Patent Office registers first invention and application document from Azerbaijan

The Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) has registered the first invention and application document from Azerbaijan.

This was reported to “Elchi” by the Intellectual Property Agency.

It was stated that applicants from Azerbaijan can now submit their documents for any invention or industrial design to the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) in electronic form.

The EAPO has accepted the first application from the Intellectual Property Agency using its newly created electronic service for submitting Eurasian applications.

It was reported that the Eurasian application for an invention with national priority was submitted on the same day by Azerbaijani applicants through the electronic service for Eurasian applications, which is integrated into the PƏNAH national electronic system. After passing the relevant checks at the Agency, the application was automatically transferred to the EAPO and successfully registered in the Office’s internal information systems.

Thus, within the framework of the pilot project implemented at the Agency with the support of the EAPO, the practical application of a new digital service has begun. Applicants from Azerbaijan can now submit Eurasian applications for any invention or industrial design to the EAPO in electronic form.

The main feature of the new service is the extensive use of inter-system integration technology: an online connection is established between the information systems of the Agency and the EAPO, and the exchange of data and electronic documents is carried out under the operator’s control. This service minimizes the time required for transmitting materials and prevents potential technical errors.

The implementation of electronic filing of Eurasian applications through the national patent offices of the member states of the Eurasian Patent Organization is one of the key information technology projects within the framework of establishing a unified Eurasian information and patent space in the field of industrial property.
