On March 11, a meeting was held in Geneva between a delegation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which was on a visit to Geneva, and Erguc Kalantarli, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO).
“Elchi” reports with reference to MES that the meeting, held at the organization’s headquarters, was attended by the head of the delegation – Major General Farhad Samadov, Chief Military Expert of the Ministry, and other responsible officials of the MES.
At the meeting, issues related to the further development of relations between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan and the ICDO, particularly the expansion of cooperation in civil defence, disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, prevention of such situations, and elimination of their consequences, were discussed.
During the discussions, a detailed exchange of views was also held on opportunities to expand practical cooperation and strengthen coordination with the aim of supporting international and regional efforts to increase resilience to emergencies.
At the meeting, the importance of further deepening cooperation and promoting joint initiatives within the framework of the organization’s humanitarian mandate was emphasized, and other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
