Ambassador: Azerbaijan sent the first humanitarian aid to Iran

Azerbaijan sent the first humanitarian aid to Iran.

“Elchi” reports that Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demircilu, told journalists about this.

“This stems from our common, shared culture that we help each other in difficult times,” the diplomat noted.

He thanked Russia for the humanitarian aid, and at the same time, Azerbaijan for its assistance in delivering the humanitarian aid.

It should be noted that, based on the telephone conversation held between President Ilham Aliyev and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian on March 8, humanitarian aid was sent from Azerbaijan on March 10 to meet the current needs of the Iranian people.

In accordance with the instructions of the President of Azerbaijan, nearly 30 tons of various food products, and about 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies were delivered to Iran by vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Today, a plane loaded with humanitarian aid sent by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations to Iran landed at Lankaran International Airport.

The ambassadors of Russia and Iran to Azerbaijan also participated in the ceremony of receiving the cargo at Lankaran airport.

The aid, consisting of medicines and supplies, will be loaded onto trucks belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Lankaran and sent through the Astara state border crossing point.

It is reported that 13 tons of medical supplies were sent from Russia to Iran.
