Action Plan on social cooperation signed between Azerbaijan and Latvia

An Action Plan on cooperation has been signed between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and Latvia’s Ministry of Welfare.

Information about this was provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Anar Aliyev stated in his online meeting with Reinis Uzulnieks, Minister of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia, that the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia has created wide opportunities for the continuous development of ties between the two countries in the fields of labor, employment, and social protection.

He provided information about the consistent social reforms carried out in our country in recent years based on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, the strengthening of the social protection system, and the steps taken towards expanding active employment programs.

Also, the widespread application of digital solutions in these areas and efforts to strengthen the personnel training process in accordance with the needs of the labor market were highlighted. It was emphasized that special importance is attached to the implementation of cooperation and experience exchange in the mentioned areas between Azerbaijan and Latvia.

Reinis Uzulnieks noted their interest in the continuous expansion of relations between the two institutions.

He provided information about the social protection and employment programs implemented in Latvia and his country’s labor market. He stated that targeted efforts would be made in the upcoming period for the successful continuation of bilateral cooperation.

Afterwards, Anar Aliyev and Reinis Uzulnieks signed the Action Plan for 2026-2027 regarding the implementation of the Memorandum on Cooperation in the fields of labor, employment, and social protection of the population between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia.

The Action Plan envisages the exchange of knowledge and experience and the conduct of bilateral discussions on active labor market policy, employment of persons with disabilities and youth, monitoring and forecasting of the labor market, labor protection, human resources management, digitalization of services, development of the foster family care model, application of innovative solutions, artificial intelligence, etc. in the provision of social services.
