Digi24: The US has requested the strengthening of its airbase in Romania for the Middle East.
“Elchi” reports that the US has asked Romania to deploy additional military forces at the Mihail Kogălniceanu airbase in the east of the country to further increase American involvement in the Middle East conflict. This was reported by Romania’s Digi24 television channel, citing a source.
“The deployment of military forces (US – editor’s note) will turn Romania into an “allied country”,” the channel’s source noted.
According to journalists, this involves the deployment of additional fighter jets and troops, although the exact number is not disclosed. Romanian President Nikusor Dan will convene a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council on the morning of March 11, where the issue of the temporary deployment of the American military contingent in the country is planned to be considered.
“The Washington Post” previously reported that the US spent $5.6 billion on ammunition in the first two days of the war against Iran. According to journalists, this figure shows how expensive the strikes were before the Americans stopped using precision-guided munitions.
On February 28, the US, together with Israel, launched a military operation against Iran. Numerous cities, including the capital of the Islamic Republic, were attacked. In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes against Israel and US military bases in the Middle East.
