Switzerland temporarily suspends the activities of its embassy in Iran amid military events in the Middle East, but continues to support the communication channel between the US and Iran.
“Elchi” reports that the confederation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on the social network X.
The statement says:
“Due to the deteriorating security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to temporarily close the Swiss embassy in Iran.”
The ministry added that the ambassador and five embassy staff members have left the Islamic Republic by land and are currently safe outside the country’s borders.
It was reported that the diplomats will return to Tabriz when security conditions allow.
