President approves law on enforcement of fines

President Ilham Aliyev has approved the law on amending the Code of Execution of Punishments of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“Elchi” reports that, according to the law, Article 24 of the Code of Execution of Punishments has been presented in a new version.

According to the amendment, if the convict fails to pay the fine within the specified period, the fine amount will be compulsorily directed to execution by the decision of the court that issued the verdict.

In this case, the fine will first be directed to the convict’s salary or other earnings. If the convict has no salary or other earnings, or if these funds are insufficient for the full payment of the fine, the fine will be directed to the property owned by the convict in private ownership or to their share in common property.

Additionally, Article 26 of the Code has also been amended by adding the phrase “salary or other earnings”.
