US President Donald Trump did not ask for a ceasefire in Ukraine until a full agreement was reached during his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
He noted that Washington has accepted Moscow’s position and uses the term “ceasefire” in the correct sense.
Peskov said that no such condition was set by the US: “This has been discussed many times. All modalities regarding the ceasefire are well understood. President Putin’s consistent position is also known to everyone.”
The Kremlin spokesman noted that Moscow is grateful to Washington for its mediation efforts in the Ukrainian settlement and is interested in the continuation of this process: “Putin highly appreciates the US mediation efforts in the Ukrainian settlement. We are grateful for this and are interested in the continuation of this process.”
Peskov also added that US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff is in constant contact with his Russian counterparts: “This allows for dialogue on the most sensitive issues. This communication channel truly allows us to send signals to each other on the most sensitive issues.” (Apa)
