Ships in the Gulf have started to change their signals via transponder to indicate that they are Chinese-owned and have a Chinese crew on board, in order to avoid being attacked by Iran.
“Elchi” reports that the “Financial Times” has published information about this.
According to the publication, in the last week, at least 10 ships have indicated their signals in their automatic identification system as “Chinese-owned”, “Entirely Chinese crew”, or “Chinese crew on board”.
It is reported that some ships also falsify their GPS signals to avoid danger.
According to the “Lloyd’s Market Association”, approximately 1,000 ships are currently blocked in the Persian Gulf and its vicinity, and their total value is approximately 25 billion dollars.
