A festive event was held in Sumgayit city on the occasion of March 8 – International Women’s Day.

“Elchi” reports that first, the dear memory of our martyrs was honored with a minute of silence. The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

The festive event was attended by Zakir Farajov, Head of Sumgayit City Executive Power, members of parliament, heads of law enforcement agencies, representatives of departments and enterprises, mothers of martyrs, veterans, as well as women working in various fields of the city.

Speaking at the event, Zakir Farajov, Head of Sumgayit City Executive Power, sincerely congratulated Azerbaijani women on March 8 – International Women’s Day, wishing them strong health, family happiness, and new successes in their activities. The city head stated that throughout history, Azerbaijani women have played an important role in the development of our society with their wisdom, rich spiritual world, dedication, and high civic position. He emphasized that women not only act as guardians of family values but also actively participate in all areas of public-political, socio-economic, and cultural life, making valuable contributions to the progress of our country.

Zakir Farajov noted that as a result of the purposeful state policy implemented under the leadership of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, broad opportunities have been created for women’s active participation in all spheres of society. The foundation of this policy was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and is currently being successfully continued. The social and economic reforms carried out by our state have created a favorable environment for women to realize their knowledge and skills and for their leadership qualities to emerge.

During the speech, it was stated that Azerbaijani women have historically played an important role in preserving our national and moral values, perpetuating our cultural heritage, and educating the younger generation in a patriotic spirit. Today, they continue to contribute to the development of our country by successfully working in science, education, healthcare, culture, economy, and other fields.

It was emphasized that women have special services in the socio-economic development, scientific and cultural life of Sumgayit city. Women working in the city demonstrate professionalism in various fields and make significant contributions to the city’s progress and dynamic development through their public activity.

It was also noted at the event that the high prestige and public activity of Azerbaijani women are further strengthened by the multifaceted activities of our country’s First Vice-President, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. Her social, humanitarian, and cultural projects make significant contributions to the promotion of humanism and compassion values in our society, the preservation of our national and cultural heritage, and the increase of Azerbaijan’s international prestige.

Finally, a group of women who actively participate in the public life of the city and distinguish themselves with their successes in various fields were presented with honorary decrees from the Sumgayit City Executive Power.

After the official part, a concert program was presented with the participation of well-known singers.
