Italy expresses concern over Iran’s drone attacks on Nakhchivan

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani called his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

“Elchi” reports that during the phone conversation, the parties exchanged views on the security situation in the region, particularly regarding the drone attacks carried out by Iran against Azerbaijani territory.

Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that such attacks carried out against Azerbaijani territory are unacceptable, noting that any actions directed against our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are contrary to international law. It was stated that such actions, posing a risk to the civilian population and infrastructure, constitute a serious threat to security and stability in the region.

Minister Antonio Tajani expressed his concern about the current situation and conveyed his solidarity. He noted the importance of restoring stability in the region.

The Italian minister expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the conditions created for the evacuation of Italian citizens using Azerbaijani territory. It was stated that the support provided is highly appreciated.

During the phone conversation, the parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation within the framework of strategic partnership between the two countries.
