Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has condemned Iran’s attack on Nakhchivan.
“Elchi” reports that this was announced by the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan.
“Regarding Iran’s UAV attack on the airport in Nakhchivan city, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has stated his position. He strongly condemns this act committed against brotherly and allied Azerbaijan,” the statement said.
It was noted that Tokayev also expressed hope for a comprehensive joint investigation of the incident with Iran, as well as for the diplomatic resolution of the conflict situation to prevent an escalation of tension in the region.
It should be recalled that on March 5, Iran attacked objects in the Nakhchivan territory with unmanned aerial vehicles. One of the drones fell on the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, and the second near the school building in Shakarabad village. Four civilians were injured as a result of the airport attack. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Damirchilou, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan declared that it reserves the right to retaliate.
