Iran’s Foreign Minister called Jeyhun Bayramov

On March 5, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, called Jeyhun Bayramov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to information provided to “Elchi” by the MFA, during the phone conversation, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov strongly condemned the drone attacks carried out by Iran on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan and expressed his strong protest regarding these attacks. He emphasized that these attacks on Azerbaijani territory are contrary to the norms and principles of international law and serve to increase tension in the region.

The Iranian minister expressed his concern regarding the drone attacks on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. He stated that the Iranian side and military personnel have launched an investigation into this incident. The Iranian minister wished a speedy recovery to the injured civilians.

During the phone conversation, it was brought to attention that Azerbaijan expects an apology from Iran regarding the attack, an explanation of the investigation results in a short period, and that necessary measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
