Drone attack against our country is unacceptable

In recent times, Iran has been taking steps that increase tension in the region and resemble irresponsible behavior. The drone attack carried out against our country is a violation of the norms and principles of international law and a serious threat to stability in the region.

Azerbaijan pursues a policy based on mutual respect and friendly relations with all neighboring states. Our country has repeatedly stated that the territory of Azerbaijan cannot be used for military operations against any state and has always remained committed to this principle. Because peace, stability, and respect for the territorial integrity of states are among the main directions of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy.

In response to such a stance, the occurrence of a drone attack against civilian infrastructure is unacceptable and causes serious concern. Full responsibility for this incident lies with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and a clear and objective explanation must be provided for what happened.

Attacks against civilian objects are contrary to international humanitarian law and also deal a serious blow to the environment of trust in the region. Unfortunately, Iran’s attitude towards Azerbaijanis at various times and the difficulties faced by our compatriots living in that country are also matters of concern in this context.

However, it should not be forgotten that today’s Azerbaijan is an independent state with strong state institutions, a firm political will, and the ability to ensure its own security. Our state is determined to take all necessary steps to protect its territorial integrity and the security of its citizens.

Azerbaijan is a supporter of peace and stability. However, this good intention should never be perceived as weakness.
