The US military spent approximately 779 million dollars in the first 24 hours of the military operation against Iran, which accounts for approximately 0.1% of the entire US defense budget for 2026.
“Elchi” reports that this was noted in the calculations of Turkey’s “Anadolu” news agency.
On the first day of the operation, the main expenses for the US were Tomahawk cruise missiles, costing 340.4 million dollars. Next came aircraft expenses: fighter jets cost 271.3 million dollars.
HIMARS missile systems, intelligence, and logistics support together took the third place, costing 122.2 million dollars. It is also noted that strikes by B-2 strategic bombers cost the US budget 30.2 million dollars.
In addition, two American carrier strike groups, USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford, participated in the operation. The cost of operating the carriers, along with the contingent of destroyers and littoral combat ships, is estimated at 15 million dollars per day.
According to Brad Cooper, head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), since the start of the operation against Iran, US forces have struck approximately 2,000 targets. He also clarified that the number of US military personnel involved in the Middle East operation exceeded 50,000.
