The oversight authority of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs in ensuring gender equality should be increased.
“Elchi” reports that Hicran Huseynova, Chair of the Milli Majlis Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, said this at the public hearing on “Gender Equality in Legislation: Achievements and Prospects” held today in parliament.
She noted that, according to the law “On Guarantees of Gender (Men and Women) Equality”, control over ensuring gender equality should be exercised:
“However, there is no control mechanism here. In this regard, we propose to increase the powers of the State Committee. And, of course, in connection with the implementation mechanism, there is a need to add some articles.”
