Merz: Trump has no strategy for Iran

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that he was not sure whether US and Israeli attacks on Iran would lead to a change in the Tehran administration, saying: “Military attacks carry risks, the plan is not risk-free and the plan must be improved the next day. The Trump administration has no strategy for Iran.”
“Elchi” reports that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a press conference after his meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
Merz, stating that he mainly discussed the war with Iran with President Trump, said: “If this regime comes to an end, it will be good news for Iran, the Iranian people, those living outside Iran today, and the whole world. Currently, we do not know if the plan will work, or if foreign military attacks will allow for internal political changes. This plan, carried out by the US and Israel, is not risk-free, and we will have to bear its consequences. As far as I know and understand, the American government does not yet have a truly formed strategy regarding Iran’s future civilian government.”
Merz added that during his meeting with President Trump, he emphasized that an immediate priority is for Iran to stop its indiscriminate attacks against the entire region, stating: “Iran must end its nuclear program, missile program, terrorism, and repression. Iran, like all its neighbors, must recognize Israel’s right to exist. However, together with the US, Israel, and our partners in Europe, we must think beyond today. Therefore, we want to prepare an agenda for ‘the day after’ with Iran.”
