Today, Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with a delegation led by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, who is on a visit to Baku.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Cabinet of Ministers.
During the meeting, the entire complex of current issues of practical interaction between Russia and Azerbaijan was discussed. Special attention was paid to strengthening trade-economic, industrial, energy, transport-logistics, and agro-industrial cooperation.
The parties noted with satisfaction the continuous growth in trade turnover. It was emphasized that there are wide opportunities for the implementation of joint investment projects calculated for the medium and long term.
The co-chairs discussed measures to further increase the volume of cargo transportation by road, rail, and sea between Russia and Azerbaijan. The efficient operation of checkpoints on the Russia-Azerbaijan state border and the expediency of their further modernization in the future were brought to attention.
Issues related to the development of the “North-South” International Transport Corridor, particularly increasing its throughput capacity and improving transport-logistics infrastructure, were also specifically reviewed.
Alexey Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev agreed on holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in the Republic of Azerbaijan in April of this year.
The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, traditionally characteristic of Russia-Azerbaijan relations.
