The line drawn on Sarayevo Street in Khatai district, Baku city, has caused discussions on social networks.
“Elchi” reports that some users sharing videos from the area noted that drivers are forced to violate rules when making a turning maneuver here.
Many others, however, said that if drivers take the turning angle correctly, there is no violation, and the marking is intended to prevent congestion and chaotic movement on the road.
Regarding the issue, Police Major Toghrul Nasirli, head of the department of the Baku City State Traffic Police Department (BCSTPD), stated in response to our inquiry that drivers must be careful not to violate the rules:
“Unfortunately, the requirement of the marking line is violated by some drivers in the mentioned area. In such cases, legal measures are taken against the driver. According to current legislation, violating the requirement of the 1.1 horizontal marking line is prohibited and entails administrative responsibility. When the requirement of the sign is violated, a fine of 40 manats is stipulated according to Article 327.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Our request to drivers is to be careful on the roads and strictly adhere to the requirements of the marking lines.”
