According to the Iranian constitution, the Assembly of Experts has undertaken the duty of electing the Supreme Leader.
“Elchi” reports that this information was disseminated on the Telegram channel of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
“Currently, we are all in mourning and saddened, and the calamity is extremely severe and great, but the Iranian people should know that there is no ambiguity regarding this in its legal system and constitution, and detailed measures have been foreseen,” – the statement noted.
It was stated that the election of the new leader is the duty of the Assembly of Experts and is carried out according to Article 111 of the constitution.
