Turkey’s Presidential Administration’s Directorate of Communications has denied claims regarding Iranian citizens illegally crossing the Turkish border, against the backdrop of events in the region.
“Elchi” reports that the statement said such information does not reflect the truth.
“Images circulated on some social media platforms with the claim that people illegally entered Turkey via the Iranian border are disinformation. It has been determined that these are old photos whose time and place of capture are unknown. They were deliberately spread after the recent events in the region. There is no concrete evidence regarding the connection of these images with the Turkish border,” the statement said.
It was also emphasized that Turkey’s border security is ensured day and night through a multi-faceted control and surveillance system.
It should be noted that previously, some social media users had circulated photos showing people in white clothing climbing over a concrete fence resembling a border wall. It was claimed that the incident occurred at the Turkey-Iran border.
