Seismological Service issued a statement regarding Shamakhi earthquakes: Aftershocks continue

Aftershocks continue after the earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 that occurred in Shamakhi on February 27.

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Vusala Rafiqqizi, head of the Electronic Services Department of the Republican Seismological Service Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

“After that earthquake, 7 earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 3 were recorded. The largest of them had a magnitude of 3.8. Three of the five earthquakes that occurred today were felt up to 3 points in the epicenter and nearby settlements. Minor tremors are currently continuing,” V.Rafiqqizi stated.

It should be recalled that on February 27, an earthquake occurred in Shamakhi district, 23 kilometers southwest of Pirqulu seismological station.

The earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was recorded at 15:52 local time.

According to the Bureau of Earthquake Research, underground tremors with a focal depth of 13 kilometers were felt close to 5 points at the epicenter and 4-3 points in surrounding areas.
