Pakistan MFA: Actions against Afghanistan taken within self-defense framework

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) stated that recent operations against terrorist groups in Afghanistan were carried out within the framework of exercising the country’s right to self-defense and with the aim of ensuring the security of its citizens.

“Elchi” reports that the MFA released a statement regarding this on social media.

The Ministry noted that the actions of Pakistan’s armed forces were a response to repeated terrorist attacks by the “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan” groups in Afghan territory, as well as to the provocative actions of the “Taliban” on the night of February 26.

“Pakistan’s actions were taken within the framework of exercising its right to self-defense, for the security and defense of its citizens, as well as to ensure stability in the wider region and beyond,” the statement said.

The MFA noted that any further provocations by the “Taliban” or terrorist groups will be met with “decisive and proportionate measures.”

According to the statement, Pakistan continued its political and diplomatic efforts to reduce the terrorist threat emanating from Afghan territory:

“The country’s actions have been misinterpreted, which has led to an increase in terrorist attacks from Afghan territory with the active support and assistance of the “Taliban” regime, as well as India.”
