Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made assessments regarding the ongoing war with Russia in a video message he shared on his social media account. Zelenskyy stated that they have received intelligence indicating that Russia is preparing for new and large-scale attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and added: “Air defense must be properly structured. These are combined attacks that require special protection and appropriate support from partners. Any delay in the supply of air defense missiles will cause more damage than the attacks themselves. Everything discussed in Munich must be implemented quickly. It is important that partners do not remain indifferent.”
“Our partners must take action”
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is waiting for the negotiations to continue, but Russia wants to use the last days of winter to inflict new blows on Ukraine and added: “We have accepted all realistic proposals, including the US’s unconditional and long-term ceasefire proposal. Russia rejects this and continues its attacks on the front line, in our cities, and on our energy infrastructure.” “We expect our partners to take action to force the aggressor to peace,” he said.
Zelenskyy calls for sanctions against Russia
Thanking all partners who are preparing new sanctions to force Russia to end the war, Zelenskyy said: “We expect strong decisions from Europe, Great Britain, Canada, and other partners. These decisions are actually already ready.” Reminding that Ukraine recently decided to impose sanctions against Russian athletes who support Russia’s attempted occupation, Zelenskyy added: “We will cooperate with our partners to ensure that everyone who joins and helps Russia’s aggression cannot move freely in the world.” He said: “We hope that our partners will demonstrate the necessary political will to implement all these sanctions.”
“There is progress regarding energy partnership with the USA”
Reminding that preliminary agreements have been reached on support packages covering financial assistance, equipment, and necessary goods for the restoration of Ukraine, Zelenskyy said: “France will host the “Ramstein” meeting on energy this week. G7 representatives and European countries that are not members of the G7 but provide us with significant support will also participate in the meeting. I am grateful for their willingness to help.” Emphasizing that they continue to work with the USA in the field of energy, Zelenskyy said, “There is progress towards establishing a strategic energy partnership between Ukraine and the USA. This is very important. There is also important progress regarding Europe. This is also very important.”
“Russia must be held accountable for its actions”
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine can become an important element of European and Euro-Atlantic security. Emphasizing the importance of partners understanding Ukraine’s capabilities, Zelenskyy said: “Let no one deceive themselves: if Russia is not held accountable for its aggression, it will not live in peace with you or anyone else in the world who expects to cooperate with it. Russia must be held accountable for everything it has done. Justice must prevail.” Zelenskyy thanked all partners who support the Ukrainian security forces and the Kyiv government.
