Former Commander of US Forces in Europe Ben Hodges has stated that in the event of a conflict between NATO and Russia, Kaliningrad could be one of the alliance’s first targets.

According to him, if Russia attacks one of the NATO countries, the alliance must quickly restore control of the situation, and for this, it is not important to limit itself only to the region being attacked. Hodges noted that “to prevent attempts, Russia needs to be clearly shown that it will lose Kaliningrad.”
He added that in the event of a possible conflict, the Western side will try to neutralize weapons, especially air defense and long-range systems, using cyberattacks and electronic warfare, and then long-range missile strikes could be launched against key facilities in Kaliningrad.
