“Mine clearance operations in liberated areas are carried out in 3 ways” – Employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations

Listen to this article:

“Mine clearance operations in the liberated areas were carried out in villages and settlements, around water bodies.”

These words were said by Altay Aliyev, an employee of the special purpose mine clearance regiment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

“We have completed part of the tasks assigned to us. Currently, we are carrying out mine clearance works in the territory of Aghdam region. Here, as in other areas, there is a large area contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance. Our groups consist of mechanical, manual clearing and also mine clearance groups with dogs. The place where we are currently standing is a mine collection point. As you can see, anti-personnel mines and unexploded ordnance have been collected here as well.”

According to him, the groups include mine clearance specialists who were educated abroad and also accredited in our country: “All our operations are carried out quickly and with complete accuracy.”

Shəmistan Əlizadə, an employee of the Special Risky Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told APA that mine clearance operations are carried out in parallel in 3 ways: “Mine clearance operations are carried out manually, kinologically and with GCS 200 brand remote-controlled mechanical mine clearance equipment. Mechanical mine clearance equipment, along with ensuring the safety of personnel, is one of the main factors that increases the speed and quality of work. The mechanical mine clearance vehicle consists of two main attachments called Flayer and Tiller.”

Shəmistan Əlizadə noted that both attachments are designed to neutralize anti-personnel and anti-tank mines: “The Flayer attachment is suitable for working in hard soil, gravelly, stony areas, and the Tiller attachment is suitable for working in areas with dense vegetation and soft soil areas. I should also note that the mechanical mine clearance vehicle has the capacity to clear 750 – 1500 square meters per hour, depending on the terrain.” (apa)
