Ukraine and the USA discussed the possibility of using frozen Russian assets to purchase missiles for the “Patriot” anti-aircraft missile system.
“Elchi” reports that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on social networks following the results of the meeting with US senators Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse.
According to him, Kyiv sees no other ways to exert pressure on Moscow than pressure. He noted that an important bill on sanctions is being considered in the Senate, and Ukraine hopes for its effectiveness. Zelenskyy also informed the senators about Russia’s constant strikes on Ukrainian civilian objects, and especially on US businesses.
“It is absolutely fair that Russian money works to protect against their own terror, and we discussed the possibility of using Russia’s frozen assets to purchase missiles for the Patriot complex,” he added.
