Konstantinov: Crimea is ready to receive Trump on an official visit.
“Elchi” reports that Crimea is ready to receive US President Donald Trump on an official visit. This was stated by the head of the Crimean Parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We are ready to see Trump in Crimea. We would be happy to show who we are and what we are,” he said.
Konstantinov noted that Crimeans want to establish a dialogue with politicians who can perceive reality soberly and objectively.
Earlier, Donald Trump said that the Crimean peninsula would “remain part of Russia” as part of an agreement to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky also understands this fact. The US President recalled that the peninsula became part of Russia long ago.
Trump also expressed his admiration for Crimea. In an interview, the head of the White House called it a “heart” surrounded by water on all sides. The American leader noted that the peninsula has great potential. Crimea became part of Russia after a referendum in 2014. In Crimea, 96.77% of voters, and in Sevastopol, 95.6%, voted in favor of joining the Russian Federation. However, the Ukrainian authorities continue to refuse to recognize the results of the referendum, considering Crimea a temporarily occupied territory. Many Western countries support Kyiv’s position.
