The political confrontation between Ukraine and Hungary has seriously jeopardized Kyiv’s plans to integrate into the European Union (EU).
“Elchi” reports that this was reported by Berliner Zeitung.
According to reports, concerns are growing in European capitals that Ukraine’s rapid membership will have serious economic and security consequences.
The harsh rhetoric of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is based on these factors. The Prime Minister stated that the conditions of membership can be determined only by full members of the Union, not by candidate countries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy aims for Kyiv to meet all technical criteria by 2027. V. Zelenskyy proposes that this membership perspective be enshrined as a legal document in a possible peace and settlement agreement to be signed by the US, Russia and European leaders. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that if this issue is not immediately reflected in official documents, Russia will use all its opportunities to block the integration process.
