Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the situation around Iran and the Palestinian-Israeli settlement with Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in a telephone conversation.

“An exchange of views took place on a number of topical issues on the international and regional agenda. Attention was mainly focused on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, the situation around Iran, and the situation in Yemen. The importance of combining international efforts to reduce military-political tension in the Middle East and prevent further escalation was emphasized,” the diplomatic institution said.
In addition, the parties discussed in detail the prospects for further strengthening Russian-Saudi Arabian relations. “The importance of maintaining a high level of political dialogue between Moscow and Riyadh, as well as intensifying joint work on the development of trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, was noted. The 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia – February 19, 1926 – was also discussed,” the Foreign Ministry added.
