Disagreement arises between Spain and Italy

Listen to this article:

Spain has accused Italy of violating EU principles with a hotel meeting.
“Elchi” reports that Spain has expressed its dissatisfaction with Italy for holding a preliminary meeting in a hotel for several European leaders ahead of an informal EU summit in Belgium. Madrid has assessed this format as a violation of pan-European principles. This was reported by Onda Cero radio station, citing officials.
Spain believes that this meeting, organized jointly with Germany and Belgium, violates the fundamental principles of the EU. The article states that the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s government emphasizes that such initiatives outside of official forums do not contribute to strengthening unity among the 27 EU member states.
It is noted that the informal summit held on February 12 discussed a deeper single market and increasing the competitiveness of European economies at a time when the Union is trying to strengthen its industrial and strategic position.
