Chilean President Boric called the US blockade against Cuba a crime.
“Elchi” reports that Chilean President Gabriel Boric called the US blockade against Cuba a crime. He wrote about this on the X social media platform.
“The blockade is a crime and constitutes an attack on the human rights of an entire nation. There may be disagreements with Cuba, but nothing can justify the harm done to children and innocent civilians,” Boric wrote.
On January 29, US President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency in the US because of an alleged threat to national security from Cuba. In response, the next day, the Cuban authorities also declared a state of emergency on the island, describing it as a measure “due to the extreme threat” from Washington.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said that the danger from the US “mainly stems from the activities of ‘anti-Cuban neo-fascist right-wingers’.”
Two days later, Trump signed an order imposing tariffs on goods from countries supplying oil to Cuba.
