The AP has adopted a resolution condemning Iran’s repression of protesters, arbitrary arrests, torture, executions, and inhumane detention conditions.
“Elchi” reports that the resolution was approved with 524 votes in favor, 3 against, and 41 abstentions.
The document calls for an independent investigation by the UN into the crimes committed by the Iranian authorities, bringing the perpetrators to justice, and referring the case to the International Criminal Court.
The European Parliament, citing numerous reports of deaths in the protests, wants increased sanctions against Iran, including expanding asset freezes and travel bans against IRGC members and responsible officials.
